Note: Edited on Mon., 7/27, to add another post written by Michele Neff Hernandez (see at the bottom).
I haven't gotten back around to writing more about the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation's National Conference on Widowhood last weekend, but if you don't read around on other widow(er)s' blogs, here's what they're saying about the weekend:
- Abby (The Alchemy of Loss): Imagining the Unimaginable at Soaring Spirits (and some thoughts after it upon getting home here)
- Mel (Making Tracks): Widows conference, really?
- Matt (Matt, Liz, and Madeline): last weekend. (and the one lone male widower
brave enoughforced to attend the conference ;o)) - Jackie (Mothering Nature): The National Conference on Widowhood (and her quick response about it immediately after arriving home here...although I think her pictures on Facebook from the weekend are by far the best proof of the fun we had! Alas, they're not public. ;o) )
- Andrea (Always Remember [andreareneeremembers.blogspot.com]): Whirlwind weekend!
- Janine (One Breath at a Time [txmomof6]): The prolific woman! =)
- About her arrival at the conference: Here I Am ......
- Upon first arriving back home after it: It is Done ...... (and a few more brief thoughts about it here too)
- And what she wrote on Widow's Voice: Peace
- Michelle Dippel (friend of the conference's organizer; they both write at Widow's Voice along with Janine/txmomof6 [see above], Mie Elmhurst [see below], and two other widows): The Value of a Friend (continued)....
And almost best of all, Michelle D. has dubbed the conference weekend "Camp Widow." Love it, love it, love it! Cuz it really WAS like a fabulous sleepaway camp in many, many ways...only with booze! And restaurants! And room service! And your own hotel room...no communal showers! ;o)
And here is what some of the speakers or organizers had to say:
- Mie Elmhurst (gave a session on Widow Humor; founder of Widows Breathe Coaching): Next Stop Letterman...
- Michele Neff Hernandez (our indomitable organizer and spearhead for the whole conference):
- Unimaginable (with echoes of the fabulous keynote address she gave us to kick off the conference Saturday morning)
- The Freedom to Be (I added this one to this list on Mon., 7/27)
I haven't dug around on other blogs or websites to see what other people (whom I didn't meet face to face) have to say about the weekend, so if you've come across other write-ups about the weekend, drop me a comment and I'll add them here!
